When it comes to rough enemies darkest dungeon 2, The Harvest Child is one of the worst. A mutant mass of flesh and “food”, it is the Foetor’s hideout boss, waiting in the Harvest House for his next meal. If you’re struggling to put an end to this twisted feast, follow these tips to defeat the Harvest Child.
How to defeat the Harvest Child in Darkest Dungeon 2
If the Foetor is the last region before you reach the mountain and you still don’t have a trophy, you must defeat the Harvest Child. If you have the opportunity to prepare, stock up on disease and bleed resistance, healing, and anything that can burn. Some useful combat items are:
- bandage
- antidote
- pustule ointment
- Mineral-rich spring water
- Neutralizing powder
- coagulant powder
- medicinal herbs
- incendiary cocktail
Whelk Salve heals both Blight and Bleed and heals easily, making it a great item for that fight if you have it. Incendiary Cocktail inflicts five burns on a single target for three turns, which is great if you don’t have the Runaway or are on a path that doesn’t involve Incinerate for the Vestal Virgin. In this particular case, having someone with the Pyromania trait is actually good.
Before leaving the inn to make your way to the Foetor, be sure to bolster your party with foods like Flapjacks or Canned Delicacies for HP, as well as resistance buffs. In addition to food, there are other good inn items:
- coagulation wrap
- Impermeable envelope
- Blasphemous Idol
If you have a runaway on your team, use some items that can also increase her burn chance. Double check that all equipped trinkets are best for this fight as they either increase damage or resistances. If you have that clench claws Trinket, equip it on your first hero before going to the Harvest House.

burn the harvest
Once you’ve managed to face off against the Harvest Child, you’ll need to keep your highest HP heroes in the first two positions. The Harvest Child carries two chunks of suspicious meat that cast two aroma skills. These skills will add to your party harvest hungerwith the token appearing as a fork and knife.
When it is an affected character’s turn, he moves up one position. If they land on the first position, they have to take a piece of meat. Eating the flesh inflicts an Unresistable -15% Max Health Debuff and +1 Stress. So you really need to make sure your strongest party members are up front. If your character is equipped with Claws in the first position, you only have to worry that he will lose his maximum health.
When attacking the Harvest Child, focus on the Incinerate and Bleed skills, as it only has 10 resistance against them. Blight will be hard to come by for this fight. With each ability it uses, the Harvest Child also moves around the field. Collect DoT as quickly as possible while avoiding a disgusting meal to end the battle quickly.
If you’re missing the Burn or Bleeding skills, you can try Stun and then increase the damage instead of having to focus on healing etc.
Best party compositions to defeat the harvest kid
There are a number of really good heroes that you can use in this fight, notably the runaway and the jester. They can hit almost all ranks and cause DoT that the Harvest Child is weak against.
Composition of Harvest Child Fight Party 1
This party is all about stacking DoT damage with a tank on top.
- Rank 4 – Vestal: Consecration of Strength, Consecration of Light, Services, Mantra, Divine Comfort
- Rank 3 – Fool: clipping, inspirational melody, harvest
- Rank 2 – Outlier: Searing Blow, Controlled Burn, Cauterize, Backdraft
- Rank 1 – Man-at-Arms: Crush, hold the line, retaliate, stand firm
Composition of Harvest Child Fight Party 2
By using two tougher heroes, this team still inflicts a large amount of DoT but focuses more on the mix of ranged and melee attacks.
- Rank 4 – Vestal: Judgment, Consecration of Fortitude, Services, Divine Consolation, Bash
- Rank 3 – Fool: Harvest, Inspiring Tune, Battle Ballad, Fade to Black, Razor’s Wit
- Rank 2 – Mugger: Duelist’s Charge, Direct Shot, Open Vein, Grape Shot, Double Cross
- Rank 1 – Leper: Chop, resist, solemn, intimidate, hit
These are some of the best team compositions to use when taking on the Harvest Child. This hideout boss seems to be one of the easier bosses as it has a wider range of DoT weaknesses and can be stunned. His Harvest Hunger is also easier to circumvent by immobilizing your hero in the first position so that only he can be affected.
