How to remove corpses in Darkest Dungeon 2
There are several ways to remove corpses:
- Hero Abilities
- combat items
- attack her
Hero abilities to remove corpses
There are a variety of different hero abilities that can be used to remove corpses from the field. Out of a total of 12 characters currently available, five have corpse disposal skills.
- flagellant: Fixed
- Grave robber: Dead in the night
- lepers: Clean
- occultist: attraction of the demon
- plague doctor: magnesium rain
Combat items for removing corpses
The only combat item that can remove corpses from the field is Bag of Lye. Up to four of these can be stacked in a battle item slot and all corpses will be eliminated. It can be purchased from The Provisioner, The Hoarder, and The Field Hospital.
If so, you may also receive a sachet of lye Still and retort Equipment of your Stagecoach. Otherwise, it can be randomly awarded after a fight, in the Academician’s or Pigs’ Pen, or in street debris.
Attack the corpses
Corpses have a health bar just like their living counterparts, albeit with significantly lower health. Once you use up the bar, the corpse will disappear. This is particularly inefficient unless the corpse is in the way of a multi-rank or AoE attack. You want to spend your turns healing or attacking living enemies, not corpses.
If none of the above works for you, you’ll have to wait the timer for the corpse to disappear, usually three rounds. This can make the fight last a lot longer and cause your party to take more damage, but sometimes you have no other choice.
hero corpses
Unfortunately in the world of Darkest Dungeon, death occurs and you lose a party member. Just like with enemies, a tombstone will appear showing where the hero once stood. I’ve found this to be a great distraction for enemies still attacking it and gives your team a little breathing space. Just like enemy corpses, hero corpses disappear after a set time or when their health bar is completely depleted.
Fortunately, even if the tombstone disappears, as long as a party member remains at the end of a victorious battle, you’ll get it hero stays. This is a new delivery that rewards you with four Candles of Hope when you reach the inn.
Can you kill corpses permanently?
In the original Darkest Dungeon, corpses were introduced some time after the full release of the main game. They offered more difficulty for those who wanted it, but there was an option in the settings for those who preferred battles without corpses.
You can’t say that DD2, where dead bodies are part of the game and there is no way to get rid of them. Fans have clamored for an option to turn them off like in the first game, but so far there has been no confirmation from Red Hood Studios if that will be the case. It might not be a feature of the sequel, but I appreciate the post-battle benefits of Hero Remains.
