We move on to the side quests in dead island 2, many of which feature a wealth of background detail and lore to truly bring the “Zompocalypse” to life. Others are just a crazy person taking care of you. Anyway, here’s how to find them all collectible journals in your side quests tab.
Many of DI2You can break their order with the side quests of. You can simply skip a few intermediate steps when you are in the right place, which can make it difficult to complete the associated journal. That’s what this list is for.

Body art: 5
Once you learn how to harvest zombie parts in The Giant-Slayer, you can return to Beverly Hills to find Francesca in a house up north. She wants you to bring her increasingly rare undead parts.
- #1: Oversized arm bones: Complete “Body Art: The Visionary” in Beverly Hills, then pick it up from the bulletin board next to Francesca. Oversized arm bones are a common drop from Crushers.
- #2: Chthonic Secretion: Next time you come to Beverly Hills, Francesca has another note and task for you. Chthonic Ichor is obtained from Slobbers.
- #3: Infected spikes: Once again, take a third trip to Beverly Hills and check out Francesca’s board. This time she wants Screamers’ Spines.
- #4: Blade Arms: Now Fran wants you to hunt butchers. you know the drill
- #5: Mutated Hearts: Your last trip to Francesca ends with a request for these mutator parts. In return, she will reward you with the legendary Blood Rage knife.
Creature Comfort: 4

Once you’ve completed The Life of the Party, Curtis Sinclair will offer this quest from Emma’s playroom in Bel-Air Once you unlock fast travel. You get the Goat Pen master key in the course of this.
- #1: Ardkillin DistilleryMission: Return to Curt Swanson’s house and take this from his kitchen island.
- #2: Last call: [You receive this upon turning the quest in to Curtis, but I’ve not found where it shows up in-game.]
- #3: Hell or High Water: During Desperately Seeking Emma, you may have noticed a room in Curt Swanson’s mansion that was barricaded from the inside. If you go back there now, the outer door will be open, allowing you to navigate a series of shotgun traps to retrieve this phone from its closet.
- #4: Corporate Narc: Check the note at the top of the fancy bar on the second floor of the Goat Pen House.
Revive the Rex: 1
- #1: Gods and Whiskey Jam: When you get the second set of tapes from Rikky’s producer’s house, you will automatically receive the song in question as an audio diary.
The Rav Ages of Caustic X: 2

- #1: Caustic-X delivery note: This clipboard is on a crate in the Halperin Hotel parking lot, next to the two red ambulances.
- #2: Silly goose: As an additional reward for completing this side quest, you will receive this track as an audio journal.
Dec and the Mother of Satan: 4
Once you get to the pier, Hana will call over the radio to start when you complete Rav’s quest.
- #1: Autophage: Taxonomy: Look at the table in the quartermaster’s tent.
- #2: Autophage: vector mechanics: This is pasted on a plaque in the quartermaster’s tent.
- #3: Quartermaster’s Notes: In the same tent, this is behind the spark wire on the ground.
- #4: Mystery Apocalypse Goodie Box Op: When you complete the quest, Hana will transfer this file to your phone as promised.
It’s not your fault: 4
Luciana in Emma’s house offers this side quest in the postlude.
- #1: Placement of the seismometer: When you get to the sewer entrance in Bel-Air, you’ll find a dead guy with this clipboard on him next to the old truck.
- #2: Niran’s NoteMission: Go back into the office above the filtration access and maintenance room in the Brentwood Sewers and grab that from the desk.
- #3: Eli’s note: From the clue above, go down to the ground and check the rough tunnel full of meat slime for the deceased Eli and his memo.
- #4: Fieldnotes Journal: Check the dead man in the tunnel just outside the west gate in the filtration access and maintenance room.
Scooped!: 2
- #1: The LA 24 News Crew’s plan: Once you gain access to the LA24 building on Ocean Avenue, look at the reception desk in the lobby.
- #2: Zompocalypse Quests: In the same lobby, look at the table in the waiting area.

More than the badge: 2
- #1: The Badge PosterMission: When you get to the alley Jimmy mentioned, look at the poster on the back wall, then turn around to deal with Sasha, a screamer who just appeared behind you. She will drop this file.
- #2: Note to Jimmy: Go to the parking garage on the east side of Ocean Avenue. The trail of “Badge” merch and fresh blood should lead you to the roof, where you’ll find this note.

Message in a bottle: 4
- #1: Message in a bottle: This appears next to you on the beach when washed ashore after Boardwalking Dead.
- #2: Rating: Bucket O’ Fish: One star: Go to the Bucket O’ Fish restaurant on the pier and navigate the gauntlet of tripwires to get down. At the end you will find this note in a box.
- #3: Rating: Pier Grill: Two stars: After finding the note above, it can be found on one of the tables outside of the Pier Grill.
- #4: Review: Hotdg Shak: Twelveteen Strs: After finding the previous clues, go to the lot next to the Hot Dog Shack on the north side of the pier to find a particularly angry Slobber. Take this note from his corpse.
Red tide: 5
To get this side quest you must complete “Coastguard” in Venice Beach and then “The Hero’s Voyage” at the Pier.
- #1: Dude, where’s my boat?: You will automatically receive this entry if you accept the quest from Carmen.
- #2: Payout: Return to the CDC facility on the pier to find Cooper’s research station. This journal is in an open biohazard container near the door.
- #3: Paging Doctor WhomMission: Check the clipboard on the desk in Cooper’s tent.
- #4: Scene change: The airlock behind Cooper’s tent is permanently destroyed. Face that, then turn around to find this note in a dark corner.
- #5: Huang’s Warning: Kill the Vicious Butcher who is on patrol in the main dome of the CDC.
The Art of War: 3
- #1: Digital Artwork: In the large train yard on the western metro, go west until your character mentions a laptop. It’s open on a table near one of the disabled airlocks. Interact with it and then kill zombies until the laptop boots up.
- #2: More than gangbangers: If you were wondering why there are so many subway cars with traps on the west side of the Metro map, this explains it. This is on the back of one of them.
- #3: Javier is disappointed: Return to the tunnel before the Brentwood Sewers exit and you will encounter a mixed pack of zombies. Take them out and then take this file from the Crusher’s body.
Go viral: 3
This will show up in postplay once you “#Clickbait” and “Like and Follow!” completed.
- #1: Amanda’s phone: Depends on when you completed Like and Follow! You can find these at the Re-Aging Clinic on Hollywood Boulevard or at Lifeguard HQ on the Pier.
- #2: SorryMission: Kill the zombie with the last name in Amanda’s celebrity glove and take the note from the corpse.
- #3: Goodbye_Vid_Intro_Take2: You will automatically receive this audio diary when you complete Going Viral.
