Ethereal Puzzle Game Humanity Hits PS4 and PS5 in May, Demo Available Today

Sony’s February 2023 State of Play has come and gone, but one of the more intriguing games showcased during the stream was humanity. An ethereal puzzle game from the creator of rec, humanity actually bears some resemblance to the PS3/PSP classic echochrome. That means lots of people have to be guided around to find exits while navigating tricky paths.

A description on PlayStation Blog reads: “Stranded at the end of the world, people have lost their purpose. You awaken like a dog and join the humans in a series of ‘trials’ (ie stages) and try to lead them to pillars of light.” That certainly sums up the game, which will likely be similar rec in that the concept is easy to grasp, but the execution will be incredibly deep.

What gives humanity One benefit is support for PSVR and PSVR 2. With the camera positioned as if you’re looking at a diorama, you’re playing humanity in VR should help spin through the blocky mazes to discover paths you may have missed. It should also come in handy when creating your own levels.

Yes, humanity has a Stage Creator to create levels and share them with people around the world. While not exactly a new idea in 2023, it’s still a great way to give this game some extra legs beyond VR’s appeal.
