Final Fantasy 16 to Have Performance and Frame Rate Modes

As more details trickle out Final Fantasy 16, one of the burning questions fans have had since its announcement has been answered. Does the game run at 60 FPS? As this is a pure next-gen game, we should expect better performance than was possible in the past. Luckily, Square Enix seems to have taken this into account and let players choose how they experience the game.

in one Gematsu previewSquare Enix’s Naoki Yoshida confirmed that the final version of Final Fantasy 16 will offer what the developers call “Performance Mode” and “Frame Rate” mode. While that’s a bit confusing, the performance option renders the graphics at 4K resolution and probably 30 FPS. Frame rate mode prioritizes smoothness over graphics and will likely run at 60 FPS.

The demo, which the press could practically engage with, was not fully optimized but ran with the performance option. A few hiccups were noticed, but nothing too major, and all issues should be resolved by game launch. In an act of reassurance, Yoshida explained this as well Final Fantasy 16 there will be no further delays.

“I can tell you that we don’t foresee any delays and unless something major like a meteor hits our headquarters in Japan, the game will come out on time,” Yoshida told Gematsu.
