Hogwarts Legacy Sells 12 Million Copies in 2 Weeks, Breaks Records

Hogwarts legacy, Warner Bros. Games’ entry into the Harry Potter universe, is the single-player game set 100 years before the events of the books. The game sold 12 million copies in its first two weeks, making it the studio’s biggest release to date.

While selling 12 million copies might seem like a great record in itself, there’s more to the story than just generating revenue. The $850 million global revenue comes before the game left PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game has not yet been released for PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release dates are set for April 4th, while the Nintendo Switch release will be on July 25th.

This comes after the final quarter of 2022, when Warner Bros. Discovery lost over $2 billion on content writedowns. A big win in the first quarter of 2023 as well as a confidence boost.
