Hollow Knight: Silksong Delayed Beyond First Half of 2023

Hollow Knight thrilled many when it hit theaters six years ago, and that has fueled much-awaited anticipation for the sequel. Hollow Knight: Silk Song. The latest comes from Matthew Griffin, who oversees PR and marketing for Team Cherry. He reveals that the title is still in development and may not be released in the first half of the year.

Hollow Knight: Silk Song was a game with very few updates. It was first announced in 2019 and would be known with scant details until a Gameplay trailer debuted at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase last year. Although no specific release date was given, it was among the titles Microsoft marketed as being playable within 12 months.

This news comes just before those 12 months are up and dashed any hopes that the game could be secretly released. The length of the delay hasn’t been specified, so there’s no telling if it will be released later this year or sometime later.

Silksong started out as a DLC to the original Hollow Knight, but the project grew too big and the team decided to turn it into a full-fledged sequel. The game accompanies Hornet on her journey through a new land full of insidious enemies and unknown bugs. It is expected to be released on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. In addition, it will also be available as a day-one release for Xbox Game Pass.
