The Trailblazer main character in Honkai Starrail starts out as a physical damage attacker with an energized baseball bat. While they are perfectly usable with this weapon, it is possible to equip them with a much more practical and useful firearm. And thanks to the quality shift to Fire, it will take some time to unlock. The new skill set is worth the wait. Here is How to unlock Fire Preservation Trailblazer in HSR.
Unlock the pathfinder for the fire safety path in Honkai Star Rail

Before you can attempt to get the Fire Trailblazer, you must do this be at least Trailblaze Level 24. You must reach this point to access the Cleanse in the Darkness Outside Trailblaze mission. Proceed through the mission like any other, but know that those Enemies inside start at level 36 and go up.
When you reach the end of the mission, the initial battle will be one-sided. Eventually your Trailblazer will run onto the giant robot and face Cololia himself and fail. Run to the center of the big room and pick up the stories if you want. Take the Fire Lance from the Warden’s will and use it on probation during the fight.
After winning the battle and completing the mission, you can switch between the Trailblazer’s two paths at any time by using the “Switch” command at the bottom right of his character screen.
For many reasons, the Fire Trailblazer is an all around better character than his physical counterpart. They deliver:
- Some of the benefits that Clara offerswith redirecting enemy attacks to itself.
- A protective shield for the entire team. It’s not the best shield at its base, but it’s a strong area attack.
- An ultimate that boosts her basic attack.
- A fire elemental character, they are few and far between. The only real competition is Hook; it doesn’t offer nearly as much benefit.
There are multiple ways to build around Fire Trailblazer, whether you want to focus on their AoE damage, tanking, or support. With enough rare gear, it’s probably possible to do all three and more.
Whether Fire Trailblazer will be declassified soon or in the distant future is unclear, but if Honkai Starrail following other gachas, there will be characters across the board that are downright better than any that appeared at release. How long that will take remains to be seen.
