Turn off Steam Overlay
Some games work better without the Steam overlay, which can be easily bypassed if you do the following:
- begin steam apartment
- Go to yours library.
- Right-click ever space 2.
- Choose “Characteristics” Possibility.
- Go to “Generally“Tab.
- type /nolightfx in the “Startup Options” field.
- Close the confirmation window.
Switch to DirectX 11
On most new PCs, the DirectX 12 version is set by default for all games. But ever space 2 doesn’t support it yet, so you’ll have to switch it manually to use DirectX 11. Here’s how you can do it on Steam:
- begin steam apartment
- Right-click ever space 2
- Choose “Characteristics” Possibility.
- type -dx11 in the “Startup Options” field.
- Press “Save on computer” confirm.
Now the game will only launch with DirectX 11 and should not freeze at this point.
Run the game as administrator
Follow these steps to always run the game as administrator:
- Go to “\Steam\steamapps\common\Everspace 2\” folder on your PC.
- right click on “Everspace2.exe” file.
- Choose “Characteristics” Possibility.
- Go to “compatibility“Tab.
- Check over “Run this program as an administrator” Crate.
- Confirm with “Use‘ and ok.
Limit your framerate
You may not be aware of this, but your framerate might not be capped in your graphics settings by default and this can lead to unwanted effects like freezing your screen or even overheating your GPU.
Go to your graphics settings and limit your frame rate to your monitor’s refresh rate, or turn on V-sync to allow the game to manually limit your frame rate to your refresh rate. Note that turning on V-Sync may cause screen tearing. If so, limit it manually and turn off v-sync.
Set the game’s priority to High
The last thing you can do is set the game’s priority to “high” in the task manager. Here’s what you need to do:
- Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE keyboard shortcut.
- Choose “task manager” Possibility.
- Go to “details“Tab.
- right click At ever space 2.
- Sentence “High” in the “set priority” Field.
