The side quest Will Research for Money in Octopath Traveler 2 Should not be missed. Talk to Octopus Researcher
Octopath Traveler 2 Players can start the Will Research for Money side quest at assembly way during one of the following main story chapters:
- Hikari Chapter 2
- Oswald Chapter 4
- throne chapter 3 (father route)
The searched NPC is named Octopus Researcherstanding on the street from crestland in the eastern part of Montwise. Talk to him and accept his request to raise funds for his Octopuff research.
Talk to the octopus enthusiast
The only other NPC that can fund such research is an Octopus Enthusiast, which can be found in the tavern Conning Creek is located in the southeast of port areas.
Once you enter the tavern, you’ll find Octopus Enthusiast sitting at one of the tables. Here’s what you need to do to complete this quest:
- Talk to me Octopus Enthusiast.
- Befriend him and charm him using both Beckon ability of agnea or guide ability of temenos.
- travel back together to Montwise.
- Talk to me Octopus Researcher one more time.
When this is done, a new dialogue will take place between an Octopus Researcher and an Octopus Enthusiast. During this dialogue, an octopus enthusiast agrees to fund the Octopus Researcher’s octopus research.
Will look for cash rewards
At the end of their dialogue, an Octopus researcher will thank you and reward you with one Octopuff pot. This item increases the chance of hitting an octopus in the world.
The Octopuff is a type of enemy that spawns completely randomly in different regions, but once defeated it has a 5% chance of dropping a nut that you can use on a party member to increase their stats. These mobs also give huge amount of JP, Leaves and EXP for your troubles.
There are also Queen Octopuff And King Octopuff which are much harder to defeat, but they drop Revitalizing Nut and Nourishing Nut respectively. The most likely places where you can meet them are North Montwise Pass And Western Merry Hills Pass.
