You may have seen the talk of a mystery box in Pokemon GO, and how it’s the only way to get the elusive Pokémon Meltan. The Mystery Box and the Pokemon that comes with it are both a rarity, but for good reason. If you’re wondering how the item works and how to get it, the guide below explains what you need to know.
Pokemon Go Mystery Box and Meltan Explained
There are a way to get a Mystery Box and Meltanand that is to send Pokemon to:
- Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu!
- Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
- Or Pokémon HOME.
Once you transfer a Pokemon from Pokemon GO to any other of the above games you will receive a Mystery Box in your Pokemon GO Inventory. Then you have to activate the Mystery Box, which will make Meltan appear in the wild and you can catch it.
When you open a Mystery Box, you only have 60 minutes to catch as many Meltan as possible, so take your time. Also, once a Mystery Box is activated, you must do so wait three days before you can receive and open another.
To reduce the amount of time it takes you to have Meltan as your sidekick, opening a Mystery Box multiple times after it’s cooldown is of great value. Not only do you need a lot of Meltan Candy to evolve it, you also need Meltan Candy to power it.
Meltan is a Mythical Steel-type Pokémon that evolves into Melmetal, one of the strongest Pokémon in the game for fighting. In order to evolve, Meltan needs 400 Meltan Candywhich means you either have to walk a whole lot with one as a buddy, or catch a lot of Meltan.
