Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic Brings Back Original Decks

One of the more surprising announcements made today Pokemon Presents stream was that of Pokemon trading card game classic. As the name suggests, this is a recreation of the classic decks that started this Pokémon trading card game over 20 years ago. Although there are different card backs to differentiate these versions, the only notable difference here is that a foldable two-player game board will be available to really set the stage for one Pokemon throw down.

Officer details Pokemon Website reveal that these reprints start from the “base set” and contain three specially constructed sets based on Charizard, Venusaur and Blastoise. Luckily, that means you don’t have to spend $200 on a Charizard just to be the talk of the town. As these are recreations of the original iteration of TGCYou can mix and match yours Pokemon and power-ups using whatever originals you have laying around.

The neat little toolbox shown in the trailer includes stackable damage counters, 3D poison and burn markers to place on maps, and metal balls to simulate Pokemon coins. There’s even a facility to determine dice rolls with a heads or tails slot based on where your ball lands. It’s definitely a very convenient way to relive the glory days of TGC while introducing it to a new audience.

The Pokemon trading card game classic will be available at local game stores and at Pokemon mid-late 2023.
