Level 5 has shared some new footage from Professor Layton and the new world of steam and it has a treat for series fans. Set a year after the events of The unwound future, Layton’s latest adventure will reunite him with Luke Triton in the fictional town of Steam Bison, America. Because of this length of time, Luke is now older and even considered a detective on the other side of the pond.
Along with Luke’s new design, it has been confirmed that the puzzle design will be handled by QuizKnock, a Japanese group specializing in creating puzzles and riddles for various forms of media. As for the Japanese cast, Yo Oizumi will be reprising his role as Layton, while Luke is getting a new actor in the form of Mio Imada, likely due to the time gap between releases.
While no gameplay is revealed here, it’s not hard to imagine how The new world of steam will play The series has always placed great emphasis on its cinematic presentation mixed with tricky puzzles. While execution can be a bit tricky at times, the series has always offered more than enough challenge and charm to overcome its shortcomings.
Currently there is no release date for when Professor Layton and the new world of steam appears, but is scheduled to appear on Nintendo Switch. Hopefully we can expect some sort of HD re-release for the rest of the series before this materializes.
