Sons of the Forest: How to Save Your Game

sons of the forest does not include an autosave feature, so it’s important that you know how to save your game and do it often. If you don’t keep your progress often and end up dying, you’ll either have to load your last file and lose some of the progress, or you’ll have to restart your game and lose everything.

Explains how to save in Sons of the Forest

Knowing how to save is just as important as the knowledge how to heal. There are two main ways to achieve this sons of the forest:

  • Interacting with a tent
  • Interaction with a bed

You can track your progress by interacting with each tent or bed you find, but building them gives you more control over when you can save. Note: Sleeping doesn’t save your game.

How to build a tent to save

One of the earliest buildings you should build in sons of the forest is the tent. The blueprint recipe can be found in your Manualbut you need:

  • x1 between, which you can find in the crates around the crash site. Tarps can also be found in various other caches, tents, and buildings.
  • At least x1 stickalthough you can pitch up to x4 depending on how many corners you want to raise.

You can build a tent by equipping the tarp from your inventory and placing it on the ground. Then hold a stick and look at the tarp on the ground. You will be asked to brace the corners of the tarp and build a tent.

Once the tent is complete, you will have the option to save your game (Hold “E” by default.) or hibernate (hold “Z” by default). Again, it is important to point this out Sleeping doesn’t save your game.

How to make a bed

The second way to save your game is using beds, which offer the same prompts as a tent. Beds can be found in caves hiding modern architecture and in various structures across the island, or you can build your own bed while building your base.

Unlike the tent, building in sons of the forest, such as Log Cabin or Lean-To do not offer a storage or sleep option by default. In these cases you need to build a bed.

You can find the blueprint recipe for a bunk bed in your manual under Furniture (switch book mode from right to left to find it). Since it’s a guided crafting system, you can choose where to place the bed and its outline will appear. Then you can fill it in with the right materials until it’s done.

Once built, you can sleep with your bed and save your game. You can also build a bed in random locations to save if you stray far from your base to reduce the risk of losing progress.

Even food and water are essential as you can take damage from hunger and dehydration (if you don’t turn it off in the options). But we’re here to help you with ours sons of the forest Leadersuch as how to make a fire or how to play multiplayer.
