Learning the ins and outs of combat is important if you want to be successful Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Jedi Survivor Combat Basics: Parry, Block, and Counter Explained
Think of this game as similar to a souls-similar title. Getting hit by an attack can be downright punishment, but you can certainly mitigate or avoid the damage if you’re willing. After all, you play as a Jedi.
The Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Parry and block systems rely on the dodge and block buttons. Dodging, or completely dodging an attack, can lower an enemy’s alertness if timed correctly.

Blocking, on the other hand, is used to mitigate damage when you get hit. It also runs automatically when enemies shoot at you, although some projectiles will still hit. If you block while a stormtrooper or droid is firing at you, the projectile will bounce right back at you, resulting in a quick kill.
Also, if you block just as an enemy is about to melee you, you’ll perform a perfect parry that has a nifty glow effect. This, in turn, temporarily stuns your opponent, allowing you to follow suit with a few hits.
Alternatively, it lowers their guard gauge. Once fully depleted, you can continue with more strikes. Eventually, when an opponent’s HP is low enough, you’ll see a red icon. Perform a normal attack and your character initiates a counter or killing move, usually severing your enemy’s limbs or brutally slashing them open with your lightsaber.

Finally, note that your character also has a block/guard gauge, which depends on your choice lightsaber stance. If that runs out, you’ll get a hit too, so watch out for tense moments.
