It seems as if Publisher Dotemu is not quite finished yet Streets of Rage 4. In a surprise update today, the incredible brawler just received a major update adding new co-op moves, a custom survival mode, and over 300 small tweaks and adjustments to character movement and game balance.
While not a major new content update, it does give veteran players a reason to dive into the game for the umpteenth time.
Simultaneously with a 50% discount on all digital platforms, Streets of Rage 4 The latest update brings some new combo possibilities for players to explore. Similar to the classic Genesis parts, you can now throw your co-op partner to launch an airstrike unique to your character. This gives you a few more options when dealing with certain enemies.
The biggest new feature is custom variables for survival mode. As part of the DLC “Mr. X Nightmare”, the survival mode challenges players to play through an endless amount of waves of different enemy configurations. Instead of using the default randomized layout, players can now tweak the settings to produce things like boss-only runs or start at a specific level to start the action earlier.
All of this is followed by a massive amount of tweaks and changes to each character’s health pools, damage output, and speed. There are far too many changes here to list, but every character in the roster has undergone some kind of transformation. The full list of changes can be found on the Steam Community Forums. It applies to all versions of the game.
