Tekken 8‘s King is everyone’s favorite tiger mask wrestler, returning more jacked than ever. Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for the upcoming fighting game sequel, showing off some but not all of its movesets and taking a look at its critical art.
Bandai Namco has already announced a handful of returning fighters for the King of Iron Fist tournament, including Marshall law, Paul Phoenix, JinAnd kazuya. Below is the latest two-minute trailer and King in all his glory.
King has always been a flashy fighter, appearing in all Tekken games in various iterations, so it makes sense that his moves are even more over the top Tekken 8. His critical art in particular looks like something straight out of an anime. Thanks to the visual fidelity offered by Tekken 8’s engine, it’s a pleasure to see these characters in motion.
For those unfamiliar with King or Tekkenhis game plan usually revolves around reducing distance and using command grips. Tekken is built around juggling enemies, but King usually has a few short attacking lines that end with either a Powerbomb or a Piledriver. He doesn’t break with the mold of grappler characters but improves on them a bit by offering a more distinct wrestler-like atmosphere.
Tekken 8 The release is planned for 2024 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. While brand new characters are expected to join the roster, Bandai Namco has yet to reveal them.
