Bandai Namco continues to reveal recurring characters for Tekken 8 with the latest trailer for the game. With the reintroduction of Paul Phoenix, it seems like time has been kind to the world’s strongest man. Though his clothes and hair are in tatters, Paul can still unleash his Burning Fist like it’s nobody’s business. Just look at the state of this random wall that Paul breaks through.
As with the predecessor Tekken 8 Trailer, it’s a bit hard to tell what’s new here. Paul’s critical art certainly seems different from his own tekke 7 version, but much of the moveset appears to be the same. Tekken is a series that relies on the tried and true skills of its players, so it’s not surprising to see similar kicks and punches from Paul.
What we can highlight is how visually incredible Tekken 8 looks. I suppose that’s Unreal Engine 5’s forte, but the rippling muscles and cloth textures look appropriately next-gen. The sound design has also been improved so that every punch Paul lands sounds like a freight train colliding with its opponents. Even if you don’t manage to get sucked into it Tekken 8the game will be viewed absolutely purely from the spectator’s point of view.
Tekken 8 The release is planned for 2024 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
