If you’re like most Terra Nile Players, you were wondering how to make a lake in the temperate biome of the game. You must do this if you want to spot the goose and log all the animals in that area. However, there is absolutely no guide to creating a lake, and no matter how much water you scan, you’re likely to keep getting incomplete results.
How to create a lake in Terra Nile

Build a lake Terra Nile and spot the goose, you must make one 4x4x4x4 section of river water — 4 units wide top and bottom and 4 units long right and left. There may be a piece of land or two in the box you create.
This area may include a stretch of river bordering a wetland or intruded by one or two wetlands. However, it does not contain any wetlands themselves.
You can create a lake on any of the maps available for the temperate biome: River Valley and Abandoned Quarry. Doing this on both sides presents its own challenges.
- For River Valley you can use the excavator along the river.
- For Abandoned Quarry you can use the Excavator or the XYZby placing a water pump in the indentation left by XYZ.
No matter which location you choose, Reset the map until you have a stretch of river that is at least 4 tiles wide and 4 tiles long each on one side in an area. To do this, select “Try region again”.
Make note of the location where you want to create the lake and leave room for excavators as you lay out your other buildings, create rock formations for windmills, and place ecosystems. Use the excavators to make the two remaining sides of the selected area 4×4.
Build the scanner and scan the area. The geese should populate the area. If you get a yellow indicator where you performed the sonar scan:
- Check if the scanned area is 4 x 4 x 4 x 4.
- Use another excavator to remove more land.
