Update your graphics card drivers
Follow these instructions to update Nvidia graphics drivers:
- Download the latest Nvidia graphics driver of the official site.
- Start the installation process.
- Restart your PC when done.

- Download the latest ATI Radeon graphics driver of the official site.
- Start the installation process.
- Restart your PC when done.
Check the integrity of your game files
when you play The Last of Us: Part I on Steam, then you need to do the following:
- begin steam apartment
- Choose “library“Tab.
- right click on the The Last of Us: Part I Game.
- Choose “Characteristics” from the list.
- Go to “local files“Tab.
- Choose “Check the integrity of the game files“.
If you play on Epic Games, follow these steps:
- begin Epic Games apartment
- Choose “library“Tab.
- Left click on the three dots in the lower right corner The Last of Us: Part I Symbol.
- Choose “To verify” And “Check the integrity of the game cache“.
Set Max Framerate to Fix stuttering
The problem with stuttering and choppyness The Last of Us: Part I is mainly caused by incorrect framerate settings.
In your game options, test both options:
- V-sync off, with framerate limited to your monitor’s refresh rate.
- V-sync on with no frame rate cap.
Capping the framerate prevents the game from trying to exceed your monitor’s refresh rate and removes a huge processing load from your GPU.
Adjust antialiasing and anisotropy settings
The game’s anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering options still need tweaking, but luckily nVidia GPU owners can quickly fix these two parameters by following these steps:
- Open nVidia Control Panel.
- Choose “Manage 3D settings” Menu.
- Go to “program settings“Tab.
- Add to The Last of Us: Part I to the program list.
- find and make the following adjustments in the menu below:
- Antialiasing mode: Override all application settings
- Antialiasing – Setting: 2X
- Anisotropic Filtering: 2X
Switch from 3D audio to stereo sound
As strange as it may sound, some stuttering issues can also be fixed by disabling the 3D Audio option in the Audio Settings menu.
You can switch to either regular stereo or even mono output and see how it works in your case. This isn’t the first time audio settings have actually affected the PC game’s graphics capabilities, as similar issues have been identified in other recent versions.
You can also switch from 3D audio to stereo in Windows by following these steps:
- Press the “begin” button.
- Choose “Ideas” Possibility.
- Go to “system” Menu.
- Choose “sound“Tab.
- Go to “Related settings” Menu.
- Open “Sound Control Panel” Possibility.
- right click on “playback device“.
- Choose “Characteristics” Possibility.
- Deactivate “Spatial sound” (3D audio) in the new window.
