The Sims 4: How to Enable Cheats

Knowing how to activate cheats The Sims 4 opens up opportunities for you to explore in-game that may not otherwise be available or likely. It can also be useful if you encounter an error, e.g. B. when your Sim gets stuck performing an action without actually completing it, and instead the Sim stays still while their requirement bars continue to deplete.

How to activate cheats in The Sims 4

Enable most cheats The Sims 4 is easy as it requires a single chain of key presses to bring up the cheat command console.

  • On PC, enable cheat commands by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C keys at the same time.
  • On Mac, enable cheat commands by pressing Cmd + Shift + C keys at the same time.
  • On the console hold down the four R and L triggers/buttons at the same time.

Regardless of your platform, this will bring up the cheat prompt in the top left of the game. You can enter your cheats here, as long as it is not a special kind.

How to enable shift-click cheats

You can enter most The Sims 4 cheating through that prompt and then press Enter. However, there are some others that require you to enable cheat testing. You may have referred to these as shift-click cheats in the community.

Shift click cheats, such as B. manually adjusting Sims’ needs or adjusting them on the fly in CAS, require an extra step to enable them.

Press the keyboard shortcut (or buttons if you’re on console) to bring up the cheat console, then type “testingCheats true” and press Enter.

There are many cheats that activate just this way, and a large portion of them require no input after you enable cheat testing. Instead, you hold down Shift (or on PlayStation X and O; on Xbox A and B) and click on a Sim or item like you normally would to bring up a special interaction wheel with modifiers and special options you don’t normally would use. don’t usually see.

You can turn cheat testing back off by opening the cheat prompt, typing “testingCheats false” and pressing Enter again. They turn themselves off when you close the game, so you’ll need to turn the test cheats back on if you want to use them on the next launch.
