The Sims 4: How to Make a Science Baby

The recent toddler update too The Sims 4 added a new way to add a little bundle of love to your households: Science Babies. Instead of going the WooHoo route or adopting, you can now create science babies using a single Sim’s genetic material or by having a friendly Sim help you.

Some The Sims Players have jumped through more hurdles than they care to admit to getting their Sims pregnant, forming rocky relationships, or initiating WooHooing with Sims they might not quite want their Sim to go that far with. The new Science Baby option lets you skip the frustrating parts if you want to go down this route.

Having a baby is a big deal, but having a science baby is a little less so from an actual conception perspective. The cost is a flat 1,200 Simoleons whether you let your Sim create a Science Baby alone or with a Sim friend.

Have your Sim crack open their phone and go to the “Services” tab to find two relevant options just below “Call Fire Department”:

  • Do you have Science Baby with…: This option allows you to select a Sim that the calling Sim is friends with to borrow their genes for the process.
  • Science Baby as single parents have: This option only requires the focused Sim and requires no further input from other Sims.

This will also skip pregnancy entirely, making this a more than viable option for Sims with busy careers or social lives who don’t necessarily want to be pregnant for any length of time. When your Sim gets home, you should have a crib ready for the baby to rest in and prepare to add many other baby-oriented pieces of furniture to help them grow into toddlerhood and childhood.
