Know how to move and rotate the camera The Sims 4 gives you the best view of your Sims as they go about their daily lives. While you can customize the lives of your Sims and the world around them, seeing them actually live their lives as an amazing artist or world-class chef is one of the most important parts. You can’t do that with the wrong camera perspective.
Camera controls in The Sims 4
PC camera control
There are two different camera modes for The Sims 4 on PC: The default setting Sim’s 4 camera and The Sims 3 Camera. You can switch between these in the options menu or by clicking on the camera icon in the top right toolbar and then clicking on either of the two camera icons on the right side of that bar.
To retract the camera The Sims 4 on the PC with the Standard camera modeuse the following controls.
- To move up/down/left/right:
- Move the mouse pointer to the edges of the screen.
- Hold down the left mouse button (LMB) and move the mouse in the desired direction.
- Use W/A/S/D to move up/down/left/right.
- Use arrow keys to move up/down/left/right.
- Hold down the middle mouse button (MMB) and move the mouse in the desired direction to move the camera faster.
- To rotate the camera left and right:
- Hold down the right mouse button (RMB) and move the mouse left and right.
- Click on the camera icon in the top right menu and press on the two rotating icons.
- To zoom in and out:
- Scroll forwards or backwards with the mouse wheel.
- Click on the camera icon in the top right menu and press the plus and minus icons.
- To center on one sim Quickly left-click on her portrait.
- Make possible The follow cameraright click on her portrait.
- For build modeall other controls apply, but press T to move the camera to top-down view and again to reset it.
If you use The Sims 3 camera control:
- Hold MMB to rotate the camera.
- Hold RMB and move the mouse in the desired direction to move the camera faster.
Xbox camera controls

- To move up/down/left/right:
- Hold down the B Button and move the left stick in the desired direction.
- To rotate the camera left and right:
- Move the right stick left or right
- To zoom in and out:
- Move the right stick up or down.
Camera controls are the same in build and live mode. In live mode, only you can press the right joystick to turn the chase camera on or off.
PlayStation camera controls
- To move up/down/left/right:
- Hold the circle button and move the left stick left or right.
- To rotate the camera left and right:
- Move the right stick left or right.
- To zoom in and out:
- Move the right stick up or down.
These controls are the same in Build and Live mode. R3 switches the follow camera to live mode.
