The Sims 4: How to Play Offline

There can be a few reasons why you would like to play The Sims 4 offline. Maybe your internet connection isn’t entirely stable, maybe EA’s servers are having problems, or maybe you just don’t want to have to play the game with an internet connection. In any case, there is a very good chance you are playing The Sims 4 offline.

How to play The Sims 4 offline

There are a few ways to start The Sims 4 offline. Here we focus on just one.

How to disable online through the EA app

EA has phased out Origin for the EA app, and it’s now the more common of the two programs, so we’ll focus on that instead of Origin.

Open the EA app and click on the three small bars in the top left corner of the app, then click Go Offline.

This will set the program to run without internet access, but you can still launch your games, including The Sims 4. The EA app will restart and display a new screen telling you it couldn’t reach the servers and will attempt to reconnect. But it will also allow you to start The Sims 4 and other games that do not require an internet connection.

This is a possibility to keep The Sims 4 before the update, as even if you close and restart the EA app while it’s offline, it won’t reconnect. To reconnect the game to the Internet, you must click on the same icon with the three bars in the top left and then click on “Go online”.
