Gorduz Backstabber is a legendary hero in Total War: Warhammer 3. A hobgoblin who has risen to the top of the ranks, he uses his tenacity and cunning to crush his enemies. If you’re wondering how to recruit him, here’s what you need to know.
How to get Gorduz Backstabber in Total War: Warhammer 3 Chaos Dwarfs
Gorduz Backstabber is only available if you own the Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs DLC and play as the Chaos Dwarf Legendary Lord.
To unlock him you have to follow the following steps:
- Build a staging post for hobgoblins. This is a level 1 basic military building.
- Manage at least eight Hobgoblin-type units.
- These include Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Hobgoblin Sneaky Gits, Hobgoblin Archers, Hobgoblin Wolf Raiders (Spears), Hobgoblin Wolf Raiders (Bows), and Ogla Khan’s famous Wolfboyz regiment.
If these requirements are met, Gorduz Backstabber should spawn near your main army at the start of your next turn. However, there are reports of a possible bug that prevents the quest steps from triggering.
As quoted in a Developer response on the Steam forums, this occurs when you conquer a settlement that already has a hobgoblin muster camp. Therefore, we advise you to build this structure as soon as possible for the quest to appear.

The skills of Gorduz Backstabber
Gorduz Backstabber has some pretty nifty abilities such as: Dagger of Malice, boosting his melee attacks and imbuing his weapon with poison. Likewise, there are his Crooked dice Ability that gives buffs based on what he rolls.
While you can certainly make Gorduz a formidable fighter, he also excels as a unit that can do so Buff other hobgoblin units. These boosts include increased melee, charge, missile defense, experience gain, and more. He can even summons Hobgoblin Cutthroats on a whim.

Gorduz’s quirks go well together Chaos Dwarves‘ mechanic, since robust Dawi units require weaponry and increased caps. As such, you’ll get much-needed buffs to your consumables, enough to last until mid-game.
