Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — How to Turn Off Motion Controls in TotK

The legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Motion controls allow you to do a number of things without using a joystick. You can aim with your bow and arrow, move the Purah Pad scanner and camera, and use Ultrahand and Recall with the Switch’s gyro. They turn on automatically when you start the game, but how do you turn off motion controls? DeadK when they get in the way? Our quick guide explains how.

Before we talk about how to turn it off DeadK Let’s talk about motion controls, how they work. This can help you better understand why your aim might be wrong or why objects are moving erratically. The gyro controls can be used in docked mode, handheld mode and tabletop mode.

  • To use them in handheld mode, move the entire switch while aiming your bow and arrow, using the Purah Pad, or using Ultrahand and Recall.
  • In docked or tabletop mode, gyro controls are limited to the right Joy-Con. Additionally, one of our editors found that motion controls work with a Switch Pro controller in all of these modes and using all of these mechanics.

How to disable TotK motion control

The process of disabling gyro control in Tears of the Kingdom is really easy! It’s very similar to how you disable them breath of the wild and takes you through it in just a few steps:

  • Go to settings with +
  • Switch to “System” with R.
  • Go to “Options”
  • Scroll down to Aim with Motion Controls (the fourth option down).
  • Turn it off by pressing A
  • It is now disabled and you can exit your menu with B

If you ever want to enable it again DeadK Using motion controls, you can do this by repeating the above steps. Unfortunately, gyro controls are ubiquitous in Link’s latest adventure. You can’t turn them off for just one mechanic. And when you turn them back on, they’re ready for anything.
