Does the master sword break in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)?
The answer here isn’t as clear as you might hope. The Master Sword in Tears of the Kingdom doesn’t have the same durability as other weapons, but the charge mechanic acts as a kind of durability.
Similar to Zonai devices, the Master Sword has a charging mechanic Tears of the Kingdom. Once the Master Sword’s charge runs out, it’s not actually broken, but you’ll have to wait around 10 minutes for it to fully charge.
At worst, I found this mechanic impractical. My weapon inventory has been expanded through the use of Aged seed Helps as I was able to switch to a different item while the Master Sword was charging. However, the Master Sword’s power can cause other weapons to fail. But that power is exactly why it makes sense to add a mechanic that lets you think about when and how to use the Master Sword.
