Tadarok Shrine Fire and Water Puzzle Solution in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Location of Tadarok Shrine

The Tadarok Shrine is located on the Great Plateau, an area in the southwestern part of Hyrule. It may be a little harder to get to than others DeadK shrines. For this you have to follow the main road that leads to where you will see boulders blocking the entrance. You can blow it up with a bomb flower or other means.

Once done, head south of the Temple of Time ruins. Temperatures will drop here, so make sure you wear cold-proof clothing. In the distance you can see the waterfall of the River of the Dead. It is imperative not to fall in the water as it is freezing. Even with anti-freeze gear, you lose health.

The idea is to build a ship that can cross the lake (e.g. a Zonai Wing combined with fansbatteries and even one rocket). Alternatively, you could just slide to the other side, which is what I did in my playthrough. Finally, at the very end of the tunnel, you will find the shrine. The coordinates are (-1082, -2187, 0129).

Second solution to the fire and water puzzle and location of the chest

Next there is the chest, which sits high on a pillar. The goal is to place the stone block next to the fire trap and prevent the ice cube from melting. When you have a big enough cube, bring it close to the pillar to climb on it. Alternatively, you can use the stone block as a platform if you cannot climb the ledge. The chest contains a powerful Zonai Shield.

Third fire and water puzzle solution

Now you want to figure out how to get to the top where the altar is. There are several ways to do this, but first you need to fish the metal ball out of the tank. This will prevent current from flowing through. You should also be able to stand on the platform below. Here’s what you can do next:

  • Place the stone block to cover the flame trap. Then put the ice cube next to it. Use Ascend on the walkway, then use Ultrahand to lift the ice cube. Once it’s back down, jump on it and use it Recall.
  • In my case, I simply stacked the two blocks. The block of stone was below the ice cube, sticking out slightly. I placed my mini-stack near the flame trap and the stone block prevented the flames from escaping. Then I used Ascend to get to the very top where the altar is.
